Rotherwick Patch near Hook opens 10 October: free entry, £10 parking, pumpkins from £1. West Green House's patch, Hart's carving and a Halloween night show.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and the biggest choice for most families around Fleet and Hook is where to get the pumpkin. Two patches are close by. The Rotherwick Patch, about three miles from Hook, opens for picking on Saturday 10 October, with free entry, paid parking and pumpkins from £1. West Green House near Hartley Wintney opens a new Halloween pumpkin patch and trail on Saturday 24 October. Hart District Council’s rangers run pumpkin carving at Bramshot Farm Country Park in half-term week, and on the night itself The Harlington has a Halloween show for adults.

Everything below comes from the organisers’ own websites and booking pages, read on 3 October 2026.

The quick answer

  • Pick your own pumpkin: the Rotherwick Patch, Frog Lane, Rotherwick RG27 9BE, from Saturday 10 October on selected days to Saturday 31 October. Entry is free; parking is £10 a car booked ahead or £15 on the day. Pumpkins cost £1 to £10.
  • A Halloween day out: West Green House’s pumpkin patch, 24, 25 and 28 October to 1 November, 11am to 4.30pm, £16 adult, £11 child, £50 family.
  • Carve one with the rangers: Bramshot Farm Country Park, Fleet, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October, 3.30pm to 6pm, £7.50 each with the pumpkin. Book first.
  • Halloween night, 31 October: The Witching Hour at The Harlington, Fleet, doors 7pm, £30.
  • Not on this year: the Hook and Odiham Lions’ Spooktacula in Odiham. It is not in the club’s 2026 diary.

Pick your own pumpkin: the Rotherwick Patch

The Rotherwick Patch is a family farm on Frog Lane, Rotherwick (RG27 9BE), now in its seventh year. It says it grows more than 20 varieties of pumpkin on the farm, and it calls itself one of England’s only dog-friendly pumpkin patches. Dogs must stay on leads.

Opening days in October 2026:

Dates Hours Last entry
Sat 10 and Sun 11 October 10am to 5pm 4pm
Sat 17 and Sun 18 October 10am to 5pm 4pm
Fri 23 and Sat 24 October 10am to 5pm 4pm
Sun 25 to Fri 30 October 10am to 4pm 3pm
Sat 31 October 10am to 2pm 1pm

Those are the only days the farm lists. Halloween is a short day: it shuts at 2pm, with last entry at 1pm.

What it costs. There is no entry charge. You pay for parking: £10 a car if you book in advance, £15 on the day, and the farm warns it cannot guarantee a space without a booking at busy times. Pumpkins are priced by size and the farm says the prices have not changed since it opened: munchkin £1, small £2.50, medium £5, large £7.50, jumbo £10. Stems are already cut and wheelbarrows are provided. It takes cards (not Amex) and cash.

Before you go. The patch is in a field: the farm asks for wellies, waterproofs and a bag for muddy pumpkins. Robust pushchairs and wheelchairs are welcome, but the paths are farm tracks that get uneven after rain. There are toilets, but they cannot take a wheelchair and there is no baby changing. A café sells hot drinks and cake.

Quieter sessions. There are autism-friendly hours from 9am to 10am on Sunday 18 and Saturday 24 October, before the patch opens to everyone. They are not on the booking system: email info@rotherwickpatch.com to book.

West Green House: the Halloween Pumpkin Patch

New this year, West Green House Gardens on Thackham’s Lane, Hartley Wintney (RG27 8JB), runs a Halloween trail to a pumpkin patch enclosed by sunflowers, full of pumpkins, gourds and “creeping flowers”. It is open on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October, then every day from Wednesday 28 October to Sunday 1 November, 11am to 4.30pm. It is closed on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 October.

The listing promises pumpkins to paint, old-fashioned games, a “spooky” disco and “perhaps even a hayride”. Tickets include garden entry:

Ticket Price National Trust or RHS member
Adult £16 £6
Child £11 £5
Family £50 £20

Members need a valid card on the day. This is a ticketed event, so it costs more than picking at Rotherwick, but it is a full afternoon rather than a stop for a pumpkin. Sunday 1 November is also the last day of the garden’s season.

Carve one: Hart’s pumpkin carving at Bramshot Farm

Hart District Council’s countryside team runs Autumn Tales with pumpkin carving at Bramshot Farm Country Park, Fleet, on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October, 3.30pm to 6pm each day. It is pumpkin carving plus a walk with nine stops on the history, traditions and wildlife of the season.

  • £7.50 each, pumpkin included. Booking in advance is required. It is for all ages.
  • No toilets or refreshments on site. The nearest are at the petrol station on the roundabout, about six minutes’ walk away, and there is a Starbucks about eight minutes away.
  • Getting there: the car park is on Bramshot Lane (GU51 2RU), about six minutes’ walk from the event. Buses 9, 10 and 410 stop on Fleet Road about 13 minutes’ walk away.
  • The carving area is on grass, reached by a compacted gravel path, with benches and chairs.

Indoors if it rains: Milestones, Basingstoke

Milestones Museum on Basingstoke Leisure Park (RG22 6PG) lists a Halloween event for Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November: The Strange Science of Jekyll and Hyde, with a Victorian science fair to judge, hands-on experiments and live science shows. The museum describes it as “spooky, not scary”, for ages 5 to 12. Its listing does not give a separate price, and the museum’s own event page was returning a “page not found” on 3 October, so check the times when you book. Parking at the museum is free.

For the grown-ups

  • The Witching Hour, Saturday 31 October, The Harlington, 236 Fleet Road. Bar and doors 7pm, show 8pm, £30, unreserved seating and standing. Alice Armstrong’s Halloween show with special guests, back for a second year. The venue says the first one sold out, and costumes are welcome. (The Harlington box office)
  • Halloween Musicals, Sunday 18 October, 12pm to 3.30pm, in the Greenhouse at West Green House. £95, which covers a garden visit, a drink before lunch, lunch by the chef Jon Kohout, the concert and parking. Songs from The Phantom of the Opera, Little Shop of Horrors, Wicked and other musicals. (West Green House, Halloween Musicals)

Is the Odiham Spooktacula on this year?

No sign of it. The Hook and Odiham Lions ran a Halloween and fireworks evening called the Spooktacula on Beacon Field in Odiham. The last one in Odiham Parish Council’s news was Saturday 28 October 2023. The Lions’ own booking page still shows that 2023 event as closed, and the club’s events calendar for October and November 2026 lists a litter pick, a prostate screening day and meetings, but no Spooktacula. If it is announced, we will add it here.

The district’s fireworks come a week after Halloween: Fleet Lions and Yateley Lions both hold their displays on Saturday 7 November. See our Fleet fireworks and Yateley fireworks pages.

Half-term week

Hampshire’s October half term is Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, so the West Green House patch, the Bramshot Farm carving and the last week at Rotherwick all fall in it. Some schools break earlier or go back later. School dates, a free film in Hartley Wintney and Birdworld’s half-term shows are on our October half term page, and the full diary is on what’s on in Fleet.

Getting there and parking

Rotherwick, West Green House and Bramshot Farm are all easiest by car, and each has its own car park. Rotherwick asks visitors not to park in the village or on nearby roads; walkers can reach the patch on countryside footpaths. Parking at West Green House is £4, bought with your ticket. For The Harlington, use the town centre car parks off Fleet Road: tariffs are on our parking in Fleet page. Check Fleet roadworks and travel before you set off.

Still to confirm

  • Hart Shopping Centre and Fleet Town Council list no Halloween events as at 3 October. We will add anything they publish.
  • Wellington Country Park near Riseley could not be checked: its website blocked our requests on 3 October, so nothing from it is listed here. We will try again and add anything it publishes.
