Hampshire's half term is 26 to 30 October 2026, but Robert May's stays shut to 6 November and Lord Wandsworth breaks on the 16th. Six local calendars compared.

Hampshire County Council sets one calendar for the schools it runs, and most primaries in Fleet, Hook and Yateley follow it: October half term is Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026, and the Christmas holiday is Monday 21 December 2026 to Friday 1 January 2027. Secondary schools and independents add their own training days around those dates, and three of the six we checked change the length of half term. Robert May’s School in Odiham stays closed until Friday 6 November, Yateley School adds 22 and 23 October, and Lord Wandsworth College breaks up on Friday 16 October.

The quick answer

  • Hampshire’s October half term: Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026. The autumn term ends on Friday 18 December.
  • Christmas holiday: Monday 21 December 2026 to Friday 1 January 2027. Spring term starts Monday 4 January 2027.
  • Not every school matches. Robert May’s pupils return on Monday 9 November; Frogmore and Robert May’s pupils start the spring term on Tuesday 5 January.

Hampshire’s term dates for 2026/27

These are the dates on Hampshire County Council’s school holiday dates page, checked on 25 September 2026. The council says they are “for Hampshire Community and Controlled schools only”, and that voluntary aided schools, foundation schools and some academies “may also use these dates”.

On top of these, the council says “five days are available for professional day closures (including inset days) during term time”, chosen by each school’s headteacher and governors. What that means in practice:

  • Robert May’s School takes a two-week autumn break. Its calendar gives half term as 26 October to 6 November and says that on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 November “school is closed other than for the bookable face-to-face 1:1 tutor/parent/student meetings”. Monday 4 January is a whole-staff training day, so pupils start the spring term on Tuesday 5 January.
  • Yateley School’s 2026-27 calendar marks Thursday 22 and Friday 23 October in the same colour as its 1 and 2 September training days, so pupils have the two days before half term off as well. It marks Tuesday 16 March the same way.
  • Calthorpe Park School keeps the county’s half term but closes on Friday 27 November for training and finishes the summer term early: pupils break up on Friday 16 July 2027, with training days on 19 to 21 July. It also closed early at 1.20pm on 17 September for its open evening.
  • Court Moor School follows the county dates and lists training days on 1 and 2 September and on 19, 20 and 21 July 2027, so its pupils also finish on 16 July.
  • Frogmore Community College has the most training days of the six: it closes to pupils on 24 and 25 September and 26 and 27 November, on 4 January, on 19 March and on 25 June. Its summer term ends on 16 July.
  • Lord Wandsworth College, the boarding and day school in Long Sutton, breaks for half term from 4pm on Friday 16 October until Sunday 1 November and ends the autumn term at noon on Friday 11 December, a week before the state schools. Its February half term runs from Friday 12 to Sunday 21 February, and the summer term ends on Tuesday 6 July.

Looking ahead: 2027/28

Hampshire has already set next year’s dates. The autumn term runs from Wednesday 1 September to Friday 17 December 2027, with half term on Monday 25 to Friday 29 October 2027. The Christmas holiday is Monday 20 December 2027 to Monday 3 January 2028, and the spring term starts on Tuesday 4 January 2028. Lord Wandsworth College has published provisional 2027/28 dates: half term from Friday 15 to Sunday 31 October 2027.

Still to be confirmed

  • Primary schools usually publish their five training days in newsletters or on their own sites. Check your school before booking anything.
  • Calthorpe Park has not yet given a finishing time for Friday 18 December.
  • Schools can change dates, and the county warns that “circumstances beyond our control may result in changes”. We will re-check these calendars in early December, before the spring term.
